Witch's Quarry ch1
Hello Internet Void,
It's been awhile since I've last shared any stories here. Life has been mostly functioning as expected, I've just been struggling with shaking off this persistent feeling of general malaise.
So recently I've gotten the distribution rights back to my comics. It's mostly old work that was rushed under stressful conditions and can be very sloppy. However, I mostly stand by the stories I was attempting to tell, even if the execution was immature and lacking.
I debated on whether or not I should try to fix them up and post them, or just throw them out there warts and all. I decided to do some light editing and art clean up before posting them. If you enjoy my visual novels, I would like to invite you give my comics a read. I think you will find my older works still feel very familiar, abet a bit more clumsy.
A few notes about Witch's Quarry:
This comic started in 2007. This was before my son was born and I was working retail full time and generally miserable. I started doodling this comic on half sheets of paper and posting it online daily. Around chapter 3, I started coloring the pages digitally.
I had in mind that I would like to attempt a gender bender comic. I noticed a lack of female to male stories (not crossdressing) and thought it would be an interesting premise to explore. Those who know my stories might have noticed they all tend to have some queerness. As for myself, I hesitate to adopt a specific label, as my identity has evolved over the years, but I think I can safely say I've always been a bit queer. And as an interracial adoptee, I have always felt displaced in this world. All my stories are ultimately about acceptance. I hope they can be a place where anyone who may be feeling a bit lost, can enjoy a warm moment of solidarity.
With that said, all of my characters in Witch's Quarry are deeply flawed. The comedic beats are often dependent on this. I don't condone or defend their actions or personalities. I hope you will enjoy this project as the silly little after-work-story it was originally created as.

You mean there are 2 other chapter already done ? You tease !
There is a bit of a "rough" feel to some scenes compared to your last artpieces but, to me, it's far from being flawed. It's like another drawing style but we can very much tell it's your drawings ! ^^
The overall vibe somehow reminds me of the tone of what I used to read younger, it feels nostalgic (but that may be just me not reading much comics since).
Ahahah...actually there is 16 chapters...I'm very glad to hear that you find my artwork distinctive. I still remember when anime/manga wasn't as popular and accepted as it is today and I was often told to stop drawing the way that I do by teachers and other well meaning adults. The first comics/mangas I ever read were by Rumiko Takahashi and CLAMP, so I think my paneling is heavily influenced by works like Ranma1/2 and X1999. I think the earliest influences are often the strongest and most persistent. Maybe my work feels very 1990s in that regard lol.I wouldn't have been able to tell - but I guess it's a given - I only checked out Inu-yasha as manga ; and only know kobato and ranma in their anime adaptation... I got own by the shiny animation and the japanese doublage !
Thank you for sharing your thoughts behind this story. I have it bookmarked and I'm excited to give it a look the next chance I get! ^^
Ah, thanks so much for reading my ramblings and willingness to look at my older work! I'm sincerely flattered *^_^*. Best wishes to you. Your project Inverted Spire is looking superb~!
